Global Life Insurance Optimization
Modernizing a $200M InsurTech platform for a Fortune 100 financial services and insurance company — moving fast without breaking a single compliance rule.
01 — The inheritance
The vault was a patchwork.
I inherited legacy architecture and a site stitched together from fragmented, one-off designs. Every page its own decision, nothing shared, nothing reusable. Silos underneath it all, and 2M active users felt every seam.
FINRA doesn’t grade on effort. Every inconsistency was a risk, not just an eyesore.
02 — One system
One-offs out. One system.
I created the design system: components, patterns, voice, and the compliance rules baked right in, so the right thing became the easy thing. Then I sold it to the organization, and kept it MVP the whole way through. Ship the smallest useful piece, prove it, build on it.
03 — Teams around outcomes
Silos out. Squads in.
I restructured the org into cross-functional, outcome-focused teams owning a result together, partnering directly with the CMO and CTO instead of waiting on tickets.
My team of 7 owned the whole loop on a site that gets over 8 million visits a year: designing, testing, legal and compliance routing, maintaining and optimizing.
04 — AI in the machinery
Faster cycles, same guardrails.
We implemented AI-driven processes and tools across research, design and delivery — speed where it was safe, humans where it mattered.
Specific tools: Figma + MCP for design-to-code prototypes on the design system. Custom GPTs for compliance pre-review, before legal ever sees it. UserTesting for real user feedback, org-wide.

Artifacts
Inside the system.
Redrawn from the real work: the design system, the delivery flow, the login experience. Recolored, renamed, brand-free. Never real customer screens.

We stopped running a feature factory that measured output — and became a design-led product org that measures outcomes.
